Togs are clothes for a particular occasion such as running or working.
Tog is a Gaelic word meaning ‘build’, ‘raise’, ‘educate’ and ‘excite’. Tog Studio help people build. They are a team of architects and engineers ‘who design built projects that can be constructed by anyone regardless of prior experience or skill’. Their latest project is phase two of the “Noust” on Tiree.
Noust is the name chosen by the Tiree Maritime Trust for their boathouse. The word comes from the Viking word for a boat shelter, where long boats would have been pulled up for winter. Phase One was completed in 2103 and Phase Two, from the 7th to the 14th June 2014, more than doubles the size of the current building. The completed project will facilitate large community boat building and restoration workshops led by local charity the Tiree Maritime Trust.
From the photographs below you will see that by Tuesday the 10th June work is progressing.
