The Mighty Clansman Does It Again!

Tiree: Where the cinema catches the ferry. If the plane goes by boat, then it ought not to surprise us that even the cinema rolls on and off the Clansman. Today, the Screen Machine left on the Thursday ferry bound for Castlebay, Barra. The Screen Machine is an 80-seat, air conditioned mobile cinema which brings the latest films to remote and rural areas of Scotland. Owned and operated by Regional Screen Scotland, the mobile cinema visited Coll on Monday 23rd June,  arriving on the Tiree the following day. It parked at the Rural Centre and opened its doors for paying customers on the Wednesday. “Unfold Your Imagination”.

As part of its 15th anniversary celebrations, supported by Creative Scotland’s Public Engagement fund, the cinema visited the islands of Coll and Tiree in August 2013. A short film was made of this and is posted online.

Now thanks to the Clansman the Screen Machine will serve an audience on Barra.
