Today, Friday 18th July, sees the start of the Tiree Music Festival, a 3 day event this year. Festival goers have been arriving on the island over the past 7 days, but the invasion began in earnest on Wednesday with both the MV Clansman and the MV Lord of the Isles making what was a rough crossing from Oban. Thursday sailing witnessed about 560 foot passengers and today the MV Clansman was replaced by the MV Isle of Mull, a rare visitor to the island, her normal sailing being Oban to Craignure on Mull. Although the MV Isle of Mull can accommodate fewer vehicles than the MV Clansman, she can carry more passengers and this was what was required today. In true festival style this morning’s sunshine has been replaced by threatening clouds.
