Tiree: What a Welcome!

What a welcome!

Leaving London Euston at 11.50pm on the Caledonian Sleeper we arrive at Glasgow Central Station at 7.20am. After a breakfast of porridge followed by bacon roll, we take the coach to Oban. The Clansman leaves on time at 2.45pm and we arrive in Tiree just after 6.30pm. Later crossing the Reef we witness a stunning sunset as the sun sets in the west over Ben Hynish. Later, probably around 10.00pm we take time to photograph the Harvest Moon (on this occasion a Super Moon) as it shines across the Passage of Tiree.

Then finally to bed to the sound of silence – no planes coming into land – no ambulances, police cars, or fire engines with sirens sounding, no city hub-hub – just a positive silence.

The next morning we wake to sunshine – glorious warm sunshine. The sky is blue and the water is blue. What a welcome to the start of our second year living on Tiree.

The Bible’s songwriter (the Psalmist) says, “In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe.” (Psalm 4:8)
