Tiree: Facing the Atlantic

On the kind invite of friends, we took up their invitation to join them in a visit to the “Blowhole” at Sandaig.  Anticipating the storm and the time of ‘High Tide’ – for maximum effect  –  we had a powerful reminder of the power of the sea. The crofting township of Sandaig faces the Atlantic Ocean and the waves were certainly powering in and crashing on the rocky shore. Further west is the headland of  Kenovara.

It wasn’t just the camera that suffered from the wind catching the spray, the cameraman was soaked. Please excuse any water on the lens!  As usual mouse-over for titles and double click for a slideshow of larger pictures.

Driving home, we could not help by reminded of an even greater power. This evening we meet with members of the church family for – wait – prayer. James writes saying  . . .
The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
Elijah was a man just like us.
He prayed earnestly that it would not rain,
and it did not rain on the land
for three and a half years.
Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain,
and the earth produced its crops.
