The Clansman Moonlighting.

The last vestigaes of daylight

Due to the adverse weather in the Outer Hebrides and the Minch on the 2nd of January, the MV Clansman was storm bound at Lochboisdale, South Uist. The first sailing of the New Year from Oban to Tiree was timetabled to arrive at 11:00am, but with the late arrival of the Clansman in Oban the ferry did not arrive until 4.45pm.

With the last vestiges of daylight slowly dying in the west and the moon shining on Gott Bay the Clansman arrived to a busy floodlit pier. Some of our fellow islanders go to the Mainland for Christmas, but visitors and family members come for New Year.

For some travellers the late arrival of the ferry was an inconvenience, necessitating staying in Oban for the night, having missed their connections. For others the timing gave them more time with family and friends. With the moon shining on calm water and hardly a breath of wind the crossing could turn out to be memorable.
