The streets of Oban are dark as we make our way along the front to the Ferry Terminal. The clock at the Railway Square reveals it is 4:50am, no wonder few people are out and about. However, the lights are on at the Terminal Buildings and the MV Clansman is showing signs of life. It is still dark as we head out to sea and make our way from Oban Bay into the Sound of Mull. It makes the navigation lights and buoys stand out clearly.
As we head to the Mariner’s Cafe for our Calmac breakfast – most of the few passengers on board are catching up on lost sleep. Returning to the stern of the MV Clansman we are greeted by an amazing sunrise over Mull. Today the sailing is only 3 hours 20 minutes as the Clansman heads directly for Tiree, only berthing at Coll on the return sailing.
Finally we catch sight of Scarinish and hear the words of “Welcome Home” from a dear friend who has come to meet us!
