Leaving the more sheltered waters of the Sound of Mull
the Clansman enters the more treacherous Passage of Tiree.
Even without a powerful telephoto look at what she encounters.
Leaving the murk of the Passage of Tiree for the sunshine of Gott Bay.

Entering Gott Bay the ferry has to turn through 180 degrees.
With a strong south westerly the skipper comes in stern first.
Slowly and carefully he brings her alongside.
The pier staff are on the ready.

Prepared for Action!
Prepared for Action!

With only one more sailing to go the ferry is busy.
Commercial Vehicles are relieved that today’s sailing made it.
People coming and going for Christmas make it through stormy waters.

School only finished on Tuesday afternoon.
Will those wanting to get away on Christmas Eve make it?
Theere is only so much you can take on a plane – when they fly!
The forecast is not looking too hopeful.
‘This is Life on Tiree.’

As we wave goodbye to friends the heavens open.
The gusting wind drives hail into your face.
The Clansman is hidden from view.

Bout directly for Oban.

Was this the final sailing before Christmas Day?
(Only obeying Santa’s orders to keep up the photographs of the Clansman.)
